THE PROPOSAL

We love a proposal that thoughtfully reflects the couple, and Gemma and Brent’s engagement story is perfection. The loved up pair were on a beachside getaway for Gemma’s birthday. An early morning walk saw Gemma in her activewear, with Brent “going for the beachy vibes” in a nice button up shirt and shorts. Of course Gemma questioned his outfit choice but laughed it off.

Their walk took them to the rocks at Currumbin when Brent gestured for Gemma to look down on the beach, where “Gemma Turn Around” was written on the sand. She only noticed “Gemma” and again laughed it off as a coincidence and kept walking. Realising Brent wasn’t following, she turned around to see him down on one knee.

Gemma was in shock as it took her a while to realise what was going on. So much so, she thought the photographer Brent had organised to capture the moment was a random person taking photos of them. She was totally caught off guard. Regardless of her naivety in the moment, Gemma said it was the best birthday surprise ever and had a wonderful day with her new fiance.

“We facetimed all our close family and friends and everyone came down to the beach for the day to celebrate.”

THE CEREMONY

The ceremony began with Gemma walking down the aisle with both her parents. The couple enlisted the talents of their musician friend to play Jonah Baker’s acoustic version of Yellow by Coldplay. This was one of her most memorable and treasured moments, along with Brent tearing up as he saw her approach him. For Gemma and Brent, the ceremony was the highlight of their day. Officiated by Mitch, The Surfing Celebrant, the ceremony perfectly reflected the pair with its light hearted and relaxed feel.

“It was such a beautiful ceremony that was full of laughs, happy tears and lots of love.”

THE LOOK

Gemma described their wedding theme as a mix of coastal, garden, romantic, and elegant. Looking at these stunning images from their big day, we would say they nailed the brief. Gemma’s gorgeous gown from Made with Love, set the tone for their celebration. She wore a delicate, white, embroidered lace sheath dress with a long, elegant train and sheer full length veil. Her bridesmaids mirrored her chic simplicity in satin bias cut gowns in the same hue. Their hair and makeup was effortless and romantic with minimal jewellery worn.

The romantic theme continued with bouquets of mixed blooms in soft colours of white, apricot, and pink. The bouquets were unstructured, with a handpicked feel, adding to the relaxed romantic garden aesthetic. The men’s suits perfectly reflected the theme with crisp white shirts, natural coloured jackets, and black trousers. Brent wore a distinguished black bowtie to set himself apart from the groomsmen.

THE RECEPTION

The fun continued as the wedding party and guests made their way to the reception under the marquee. Gemma and Brent decided on a cocktail style reception to ensure lots of social interaction and dancing. Guests were able to move about freely allowing for more connection and mingling. The couple wrapped up formalities early in the night and opened up the dancefloor. The party was underway and did not stop until the last possible moment.

Gemma even changed out of her heels in favour of sneakers to ensure she could party all night long.

Catering by Fire N Dough made it easy for guests to enjoy a delicious pizza dinner in a relaxed way. They could indulge in as much or as little as they pleased, sampling different flavours throughout the evening. Drinks were served by Farm House favourites, The Irish Shakes. The couple made certain their guest had everything they needed to dine, drink, and dance the night away.

ADVICE

Gemma and Brent fell in love with the Gold Coast Farm House from their very first visit. The beautiful surrounds created the perfect backdrop for their vision and they loved the freedom to choose their own vendors. They transformed the venue into a relaxed and beautiful space to celebrate with their loved with friends and family.

One aspect that made a memorable impression at their wedding, was the photo dash. Photographers, Dani and Nikki, from Untamed Creative, recommended the photo dash to Gemma and Brent. The MC announces to the guests that the newlyweds will run around and get a photo with everyone. To make it a “dash”, they have to do it before the next song finishes. Gemma and Brent loved this interactive activity as it was a great way to get photos with all their guests.

Above all, Gemma and Brent advise other couples to try to relax and not sweat the small the stuff. Whatever will be will be, and you will enjoy your day more if you just go with the flow.

“Super cliche, but I would change a thing. it was truly one of the best days of our lives.”
