Maddie and Josh | An Elegant Festival

Wrapped in the magic that is rolling hinterland hills, native birds singing from trees and the sun dancing off sparking water, Maddie and Josh said their ‘I do’s’ by the lake.

Surrounded by family and friends the Melburnian couple bathed in all the best Queensland had to offer. Indulging in the best food, drinks and music on the Gold Coast.

A charming mix of elegance and festival vibes created the penultimate wedding celebration for the happy couple.

Our Story

Your Engagement

After meeting on a Topdeck tour in 2013, it was clear that Maddie and Josh both had the travel bug. However, thanks to COVID, their travel plans to Greece with friends were cancelled. Josh had gone for a ‘jog’ but was instead setting up an elaborate proposal at the park with fairy lights and candles included.

Maddie was then called to help Josh find his lost headphones, but instead of searching, Josh was on one knee waiting. The rest is history.

The Details

Location

Originally wanting a Hawaii wedding, we were scared to plan an international event in the midst of a pandemic. So they flew to Queensland and explored all the venues they would from Tweed to Noosa.

Gold Coast Farm House was the first wedding venue on their agenda, and they quickly fell in love with the spectacular views and easy organisation.

Vendors

Wanting a formal sit-down dinner the obvious choice was The Italian Job, with a giant grazing table, canapes and a gourmet Italian feast including pasta and pizzas.  The delicious meal was perfectly offset with drinks by My Vintage Lane.

Achieving an elegant festival, wouldn’t be achievable without the help of a skilled DJ, pumping tunes all night long. The dance floor was truly never empty thanks to We R DJs

There was not a dry eye in the house with a gorgeous ceremony led by celebrant Tammy Jayne, that captured the fun loving relationship Maddie and Josh share.

Captured by Carly Kelly from Yellow Bull Weddings, Maddie and Josh said they felt so comfortable and had so much fun doing their bridal portraits.

Music

After spending 9 years together, Maddie and Josh had a large list of songs that meant a lot to them and defined their relationship. Maddie walked down the isle to see Josh’s beaming face to “All of You Love” by Dustin Tebutt, the lyrics “All your love keeps me safe and all your love completes me”, resonated with the couple.

Both Maddie and Josh not being huge classical dancers, the idea of a first dance was terrifying, so instead they opted for something different. After pouring a grand champagne tower, everyone grabbed a glass and made their way to the dance floor to celebrate to Rhianna and Calvin Harris’ “We Found Love”.

The Look

When planning the wedding Maddie knew she wanted something out of the ordinary. Trusting the very capable Sugared Style with her floral vision, the green hinterland venue was transformed with pink, orange and red roses, perfect for a fun elegant wedding.

The bride wore a fun take on a classic off-the-shoulder wedding dress by D’Italia by Vassi, with a high leg split that made dancing a breeze. Her hair was styled down with elegant braids and loose curls.

Josh kept to the white and cream theme in a light beige suit by MJ Bale, which was accented by the bridesmaids mis matched neutral dresses and the grooms mens white and beige suits.

Highlights

As always, it is impossible to pick one highlight from such a memorable day, however Maddie and Josh were able to narrow down a few.

Maddie loved getting ready on the deck of the house with her bridesmaids, mother and new mother-in-law. Getting to watch the wildlife while relaxing was a great calm beginning to the day.

Of course, the champagne tower was another highlight and hearing everyone’s loving speeches. However one standout moment was having everyone singing “I Want it That Way” in unison during dinner- it was both hilarious and so uniting.

Advice

Having an interstate wedding allowed Maddie and Josh to spend time with all of their loved ones all across Australia. This meant hosting pre-drinks at local Pavilions and recovery sessions so there was plenty of time to talk to all of our guests and enjoy ourselves.

Things will go wrong- but at the end of the day, there is always a solution and  no one else but you will notice. Just roll with it and remember to have fun.
