Sherri and Chase | Luxury in the Hinterlands

By the point of the lake, birds sang and the sun glistened as Sherri and Chase said their “I do’s” surrounded by family and friends.

Romanced by the effortless beauty of hinterland weddings, the couple created a bohemian luxe wedding that perfectly encapsulated their personalities.

With special guest appearances by their dog Nelson, and a team of talented vendors- their vision for a romantic carefree day came to life nestled in the Numinbah Valley.

THE ENGAGEMENT

We took a holiday to the Whitsundays and had the best time sleeping out on the reef, snorkelling and taking helicopter rides over the heart of the reef.

One day we travelled out to Whitehaven beach, where we walked along the pure white sand. Chase picked the perfect spot when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said ‘yes’ – of course.

the details

Location

We always felt we wanted to be married somewhere that represented us both. Gold Coast Farm House was precisely that. We both grew up on acreage and love the outdoors, so the farm was perfect for us.

We loved how secluded and private the property was, making our day feel like a retreat in the Hinterlands. The stunning property was a great blank canvas for us to create our dream wedding around.

vendors

Our ceremony was hosted by the beautiful Clarah Luxford, it was the best mix of serious and personal. She told our love story and captured our essence perfectly.

We treated our guests to delicious food by Gareth Keenan Catering, he delivered great canapes followed by a luxurious sit-down dinner. Drinks were ever flowing with the help of Kombi Keg, with espresso martinis, sex on the beach, great northern and a variety of pale ales on tap. This kept our guests happy and well-fed, giving them plenty of energy to party the night away to music by Birdman Randy and the Ivory Street Preachers.

Our dream wedding was captured by none other than the amazing Kirk Willcox, who made us feel so comfortable. We had the talented NSI Productions as our videographer, who created a stunning wedding film in less than two weeks from our day.

We loved the idea of a formal sit down dinner with all of our loved ones, so we hosted three long tables beneath the clear Marquee decorated with twinkling fairy lights and festoon lights.

music

Music was such an important part of our day, we had an acoustic duo from Birdman Randy and the Ivory Street Preachers perform for us all day. The melodic duo sung Young Blood by Graeme James Cover of The Naked and Famous is a song we have always loved and reminded us of all of our good times.

The night we first met the song ‘Shut Up and Dance’ by Walk the Moon played. We felt this was a perfectly fitting first dance song, so we danced to the Anchor and Bell Cover performed by our acoustic duo turned four piece band. It was beautiful.

the look

Classic as ever Sherri chose a simple white satin Made With Love gown, with a delicate V Neckline and backless detail.  Styling this with simple curls, natural glam makeup and a long veil, she looked every part the timeless bride.

Chase kept it simple also with a beige suit jacket from Jack London over a white shirt, black pants and brown boots. He added some fun into the grooms look with a black and brown native floral bowtie.

Bridesmaids and groomsmen accented the bride and groom’s looks in their mismatched rust-coloured satin dresses and matching suits and ties.

Florals played an important role in the overall bridal look with bouquets of white, orange and pink roses and matching boutonnières.

highlights

If we could say the whole day was a highlight we would.

We loved our ceremony and being able to exchange personal vows with all our loved ones as our witnesses. Our dog Nelson got to play ring bearer and it was very special. We loved having our dog be part of our ceremony as he is a huge part of our lives.

We remember vividly seeing each other at the end of the aisle,  and really getting to bask in the emotions and love from all our closest friends and family.

Right after the ceremony and congratulations, we took some time out as a couple to enjoy a short picnic amongst the fields to debrief. It was nice to spend our first moments as a married couple alone before all the celebrations began. Plus we got to enjoy all of the delicious canapes in a quiet and special moment.

Advice

We’d recommend scouting all the locations at the venue for photos and communicating with your photographer where you want to shoot. We would have loved to have had photos at the Tallow-wood tree, but completely forgot.

Additionally, we would recommend having a pre-wedding catch-up or recovery day post-wedding (or both) to allow you to feel more relaxed. This gives you time to really talk to all of your guests and allows you to really soak in the day.

Make sure you and your partner stop and check in with each other every hour or so during the reception as it is so easy to get separated.
