How To Choose Your Dream Wedding Venue

Second only to choosing the right person to marry, your wedding venue is the most important decision you’ll make for your big day. It sets the literal scene for your wedding and how you can celebrate it. There are many things to consider when deciding on your venue, so we have compiled a list to help make it easier.

Determine Your Vision

Whether you have a comprehensive Pinterest board or just an idea of how you want your wedding to be, it’s important that you bring your vision to life. The right venue will tick off as many boxes as possible making your dream wedding a reality. Discuss your priorities with your partner and come to an agreement together to define your wedding style.

From bare feet to ballgowns, we have hosted all kinds of weddings at the Farm House. Our property can be transformed into your ideal venue with your choice of both ceremony and reception locations.

Budget Considerations

On average, couples spend around 45% of their wedding budget on the venue. This is handy to keep in mind when shortlisting your venue choices. You want to ensure you have plenty left in your budget for all your vendors, clothing, decor, and more. Determine where your priorities lie and work around your non-negotiables.

At the Farm House, we offer a range of packages to suit your budget. Choose from an intimate mid-week elopement, or go grand with a large marquee wedding.

Guest List and Capacity

Compiling your guest list is one of the most challenging parts of planning your wedding. The key is to edit, then edit, and edit again. Once capacity goes over 150 guests, your venue options become limited. If you have your heart set on a particular venue, check the maximum capacity to ensure it can accommodate your needs.

The Farm House can accommodate up to 150 guests with our Triple Tipi and Large Pavilion Marquee wedding packages. Alternatively, you can keep your celebration small on the deck of the house.

Location and Accessibility

Ensure your wedding venue is in a location that is easily accessible for you and your guests. You can have your dream wedding in a remote location if you provide adequate transportation. Consider who is coming to your wedding and whether they need special access or help with mobility. Discuss accessibility with your prospective venues.

Our intimate to large wedding packages include private coach transfer from Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, or Burleigh. Guests are returned at the end of the evening. Gold buggies are available onsite to transport guests and wedding party around the Farm House grounds.

Venue Style and Decor

If you are set on a particular theme or decor, ensure the wedding venue is able to satisfy your vision. Find a location that is flexible with their set-up and decoration. Do they have decor items you can use or do you need to supply your own?

The Gold Coast Farm House offers the complete use of our furniture items, with styling accessories available for hire.

Amenities and Services

Read the venue’s fine print to see what is included and what you need to provide. Once again, consider your must haves and non-negotiables. Does the venue satisfy your priorities?

Peruse our wedding packages to see all the inclusions and amenities available.

Flexibility and Restrictions

Choose a venue that works with your needs. Do you need flexibility around guest numbers, desired dates, or event times? Whatever it is you need, make sure your wedding venue is flexible. Double check restrictions associated with the venue. Ask about their policies around noise, decor, alcohol regulations, and curfews.

When you book your wedding with the Gold Coast Farm House, our venue coordinator is on hand to help navigate any changes or challenges. We can answer any questions you might have before you commit to hosting your wedding at the Farm.

Reviews and Recommendations

Do your research! Stalk your proposed venues online to find reviews and testimonials from past couples and guests. Read blogs from real-life weddings and take a deep dive on social media. Seek recommendations from wedding planners, caterers, and photographers who may have worked the venues.
