Out with the Old – New Wedding Trends for 2023
Are you ready for some wedding inspo to plan your 2023 celebration? Take a look at what is set to make your wedding an unforgettable day for you and you guests. Our guide to the new wedding trends for 2023 will help you create the wedding of your dreams.
Quality Over Quantity
While large weddings with family and friends will always be popular, we are seeing more and more couples opt for small scale intimate celebrations, micro weddings, and even elopements. Couples are choosing quality over quantity with every aspect of their wedding, from guests to food and everything in between.
One of the biggest contributors to cost is providing food, drinks, and space for your guests. Hosting a smaller affair allows you to use your budget for high end details, quality food, and top shelf drinks. A smaller group of revellers means you can spend more quality time with the most important people in your life and have a relaxed and memorable wedding that you and your guests will treasure forever.
Digital Wedding Invitation
There are so many reasons why digital wedding invitations are becoming the best way to communicate with your guests. While paper invitations sent by traditional mail are romantic and exciting to receive, a digital wedding invite can be just as visually beautiful and provide the recipient with all the information they need in the palm of their hands.
Digital wedding invitations allow you to link directions, photo galleries, and every little detail they could possibly need to make their way to your nuptials.
High Impact Florals
With so much importance placed on photos and images these days, details, design, and decoration are meticulously considered more than ever before. Flowers are having a major comeback with designers offering spectacular floral displays for bouquets, wearables, and décor. Brides are choosing modern floral arrangements with an abundance of non-traditional blooms, including dried flowers and silks.
Weekday Weddings
With smaller weddings becoming more popular, couples are choosing to hold their big day during the week. Weekend weddings are more expensive, and venues can be booked out months or even years in advance. A weekday wedding is not only cheaper, but they can be more relaxed and intimate.
Destination weddings are ideal to have on a weekday with many of the guests spending at least a few days in the location either side of the wedding. Weekday accommodation and travel is also less expensive for your guests, encouraging more of them to attend a destination wedding.
Local Honeymoons
With Covid derailing our travels plans, we’ve become experts at exploring local destinations and domestic travel. Local honeymoons allow couples to ease into there post wedding vacation, rather than dealing with the stress of long haul flights and intense itineraries.
Choosing a location to spend time with your beloved that is either close to home or your wedding venue, allows you to start your getaway sooner without the stress of traveling long distances.
Food Trends
Food is a major player at a wedding. A delicious dinner, fabulous finger food, or delectable drinks can make a wedding enjoyable and memorable for you and your guests. Wedding food trends are constantly changing and what you decide to serve your guests will depend on the theme and style of your wedding.
Sit down dinners are still popular for more formal affairs and guests love the chance to get off their feet and enjoy the company of close family and friends. Serve yourself buffets are, however, becoming a thing of the past, with food trucks, grazing tables, cocktail canapes, and dessert bars taking over as the food trend du jour.
Moving on from Traditions and Superstitions
Traditions are being challenged by today’s couples with many wedding staples now becoming outdated and obsolete. Modern weddings will feature mothers or other loved ones walking the bride down the aisle, or even the couple walking in together. Wedding parties are often mismatched and mixed gendered, moving away from the notion of “partners”.
Many couples are choosing to stay together the night before the wedding and spend the whole day together as they prepare for the nuptials. Their vows are less romantic and traditional and rather focus on their partnership and personalities, with an injection of humour.
Other traditions that a phasing out are signing paperwork as part of the ceremony and throwing a bouquet. Couples are filling champagne towers together rather than cutting and cake and the first dance is often accompanied by their wedding party, with many couples performing a choreographed dance to entertain their guests and start the night with a laugh.
